Stylish Color

This open kitchen combines modern style with an Old World feel and features soft white custom cabinets, a rich emerald backsplash and stylish furnishings.

I don't think I've ever been so excited to walk into someone else's kitchen. The Blehm's family kitchen is full of new and innovative ideas. The soft mint-green cabinets were the first breath of fresh air. The color, formerly only used as complimentary, has made a comeback and has been reinvented as a neutral foundation color in unexpected spaces. That refreshing color coupled with classic white counters and marble backsplash feels simultaneously both nostalgic and brand new. The island lighting is a magnificent display of creativity. Angela Blehm upgraded three simple spheres by designing a custom cage constructed from white oak. It’s a one-of-a-kind solution and an amazing focal point for the kitchen. The natural texture of the wooden cage along with the cabinet pulls, adds just enough warmth to make the family's gathering spot feel even more approachable and inviting.

A Play on Pastel

Color doesn't have to be bold and in your face. Here, a soft mint green coats the cabinets for a refreshing-yet-subtle addition, while wooden fixtures add just enough warmth while still keeping the inviting feel of the space.

Grounded With Blue

The color blue is commonly known to symbolize many feelings associated with peace, relaxation and calmness, making it the perfect shade for a high-traffic room such as the kitchen. A rich hue of indigo coats the lower cabinets in this dreamy, magazine-worthy kitchen.

Matching leather bar stools at the island are the perfect spot for a quick morning coffee or entertaining guests before dinner. A trio of pendant lamps in matte black add soft white light to the space and incorporate soft task lighting for the island.

Fanciful Florals

A white kitchen doesn't have to be ALL white. For contrast, designer Andrea Schumacher chose an emerald green tone from the wallpaper to paint this kitchen's island. The standout green piece complements the blue floral wallpaper, the Murano glass chandeliers, white cabinetry and Carrara marble backsplash.
